Siveco China Newsletter May 2020 | 阅读本期和以往中文版新闻通讯
Welcome to the May 2020 issue of the Smart O&M newsletter! This month, we share experience from the water industry in China, an experience that other operators of multi-site facilities will also find relevant. In “Smart Water with Chinese Characteristics: A Practical Guide for Infrastructure Owners” we draw an overview of what we see, what we do, with multisite utilities implementing Smart O&M solutions in Asia. The article is based on a presentation we gave at the last International Water Association conference in November 2019. Finally we share some of our latest news. Enjoy!

Smart Water with Chinese Characteristics: A Practical Guide for Infrastructure Owners

The history of O&M best practices in western water companies can be traced back to Roman magistrate Sextus Julius Frontinus’s “De aquis urbis Romae”, nearly 2000 years ago. On the other hand, Chinese water companies tend to be considered laggards by international and domestic observers alike.
Yet, they are moving faster than anyone had expected in terms of Smart Water. On the IT front, China has in recent years been recognized as a technology powerhouse. On the operational front, not only China operates water infrastructures on an unprecedented scale, it is also playing a quiet but significant role in the development of the ISO 55000 Asset Management standard (also known as GB/T 33172 in China).

Demo movie: how bluebee® supports water infrastructures to close the ISO 55000 feedback loop

In the face of increasingly stringent regulations, infrastructure owners and in particular environmental utilities, seek to apply standards and ensure compliance across their Operation and Maintenance (O&M) activities.
Siveco, the pioneer in the development of Smart O&M solutions, has a strong track record in the environmental industry: using the ISO 55000 Asset Management standard as a framework, the bluebee® solution is designed to help infrastructure companies to close “the ISO55000 loop” between the Asset Management strategy and what is actually happening in the field, thus enabling continuous improvement.

United against COVID-19, sending masks to nursing homes in France

As COVID-19 spread across the world, the supply of masks and other medical material has become a hot and sometimes highly controversial topic. In March, French people living in Shanghai throughout the crisis, such as our Managing Director, discovered that nursing homes in France, hosting the most vulnerable population of elderly people, were not given priority amidst a massive shortage of masks.
Siveco joined a group of 7 French enterprises in Shanghai to purchase and donate FFP2 masks to selected nursing homes ran by non-for-profit organizations. The donations aimed at keeping their staff equipped for around 2 months, a time long enough to hopefully offer protection until the pandemic slows to a halt.
